Many acne medications claim to cure your acne in under a week. But what they fail to realize is that we need to look our best today and not a week from now. You don’t need to stay at home or put a bag over your head because there are some make up tips that can help conceal your acne blemishes.

Note: While these tips won’t cure your acne, they will help hide it so you can continue your life without worrying about it.

There are 3 things that you will need to conceal your acne. They are concealer, foundation, and finishing powder. I know that money is tight but you really can’t avoid brand names here and the discount products just won’t cut it. They just don’t look natural. I know; I’ve tried.

You will have to read the labels of your makeup products very carefully. You do not want an oil-based make up. Acne thrives on oily skin and applying an oil based make up is only going to make things worse. Imagine if you were trying to cover up 2 blemishes and at the end of the day you ended up with 8.

Before we get to covering up it is important you wash your face, apply any medications, and then pat your face dry. Do not rub or scrap the towel on your face or you will worsen the condition. Letting your face air dry is one of the best ways to avoid problems.

Using a sponge put a very light coat of concealer over the acne blemish. You don’t want to glob it on or it will look horrible when you’re finished. If you need to put more on after it has dried, then do so. Just remember to toss the sponge in the garbage. The sponge will naturally take some of your oily skin with it and you don’t want to be reapplying that on to your face.

You will want to repeat this process with the foundation as well. Instead of washing it on your face, apply it with a dabbing motion.

We’re almost done! Using a big brush apply a very light layer of oil-free finishing powder. This will help take the glare off of the concealer and help create a more uniform looking skin surface.

Don’t forget to get rid of any sponges you used. Once you’ve returned home from work, school, or that special date, wash your face to get rid of all the makeup. Before you go to bed give you face a final cleaning so it can heal while you sleep. Other than that, that is all there is to covering up acne.
